Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Mr. Salar Muhammad Amin, received members of the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee at the Commission’s headquarters, headed by the elderly Chairwoman , Ms. Vian Abdel Aziz.

During the meeting, a number of issues related to investment activity and the promoting mechanisms were discussed. Among which the committee’s proposal that includes unifying the laws concerned with investment into a single and comprehensive law in direct coordination with the NIC and the concerned authorities in the country in a serious and deliberate attempt to overcome investment laws overlap aiming at a firm ground for launching obstacles- free investment that was proven to be a factor of delay and withdrawal of this important activity.

Encouraging investment and build a proper environment are fundamental bases that go along with the governmental curriculum aiming at attracting companies and capitals to participate in supporting infrastructure and moving the economy forward by creating job opportunities in various sectors.

A high-ranking Iranian economic delegation headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Financial Affairs, Chairman of the Iranian Investment and Economic Cooperation Commission, visit the National Investment Commission (NIC).

During his meeting with members of the Iranian delegation, Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Mr. Salar Muhammad Amin, stresses the importance of:

🟣 establishing joint industrial zones using the enormous raw materials and human potential in both countries.

🟣 Border management and control over the quality of Iranian goods entering Iraq in a way that preserves the reputation of the sober Iranian industry.

🟣 Re-activating the bilateral trade agreement between the two countries.

The Chairman of the NIC, Engineer Amin, received today, Monday, a high-ranking official delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Mr. Ali Fikri Muwaqar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Financial Affairs, Chairman of the Investment and Economic Cooperation Commission, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, he reviewed the deep bilateral relations in the economic and investment field between the two countries, and the common social, cultural, religious and historical bonds that unite the Iraqi and Iranian peoples, which represent strength and support factors to enhance joint economic cooperation.

Mr. Amin expressed the desire of Iraq to benefit from the technical knowledge and advanced technological capabilities enjoyed by the Iranian side in various economic fields, including (glass, metal, petrochemical, manufacturing, mechanical industries and others).

He stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and knowledge between the two countries through opening permanent and non-seasonal exhibitions in the Iraqi and Iranian provinces, to establish a detailed and accurate knowledge of these sectors, such as automotive, construction and chemical, and other important industries, in addition to starting promotion and business management courses.

He expressed his hope that the Iraqi-Iranian joint committee would contribute to providing the necessary support to the private sector, companies, businessmen and investment in both countries, through which many obstacles and problems facing the economic and investment sectors could be overcome.

The guest minister proposed some investment forms for economic cooperation between the two parties based on benefiting from the knowledge, technical and technological aspect of Iranian companies and sometimes supporting gas and power sectors in Iraq as alternatives to the necessary financing for the proposed partnerships, referring to the idea of establishing (joint industrial zones) that are important to the Iranian government because of the diverse economic opportunities they represent with a large base attracting several industries, capitals and companies, and eventually a promising economic movement.

He also presented a proposal that included establishing investment projects concerned with reducing water consumption in the industrial and agricultural sectors in both countries, in line with the reality of West Asian Countries, including Iran and Iraq, facing the big water scarcity problem.

The head of the delegation extended an official invitation to the NIC Chairman  to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran to see their investments.

A number of the NIC’s Director Generals attended the meeting.

The National Investment Commission held a joint meeting on Wednesday, attended by Mr. Salar Muhammad Ameen, Chairman of the Commission, and members of the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee, with the S.Korean side represented by the director of Hanwha Co. and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of His Excellency the South Korean Ambassador in Baghdad.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chairman of NIC welcomed the resumption of discussions that pours into the interest of the project and does not cause harm to either party, expressing the government’s interest of the project details and its desire to overcome disputes between the two parties under its direct supervision.

Members of the Parliamentary Committee were briefed on the financial, legal and technical details of the project and points of contention between the two parties, stressing their continued support for any effort that pours into the return of this vital and important project that serves the Iraqi economy and contributes to meeting part of the growing need for housing units..

The meeting was full of positive air and all agreed to solve the existing problems and to reach early solutions to the return working in the project under the necessary settlements.

The Korean side presented a detailed offer including proposals to return working on the project according to technical and legal phases mechanisms that will be studied by the Iraqi side in preparation for the resumption of work on the project.

Yesterday,  Monday,  Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Mr. Salar Muhammad Ameen, met a delegation from the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee, headed by the eldest Representative Vian Abdel Aziz, and a number of committee members.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman reviewed the course of discussions between NIC and the South Korean Hanwha Company, which is building Bismayah City residential project, explaining NIC legal and financial point of view on the project and the true desire of the government represented by NIC to resume work on the project in line with the increasing demand.

Chairman of the Committee welcomed the Commission’s attitude in support of NIC efforts to escalates the project’s work to reach its full design capacity of (100) thousand housing units as one of the most prominent large and strategic housing projects in Iraq and represents decent and suitable housing opportunities for people with medium and limited incomes.

Both emphasized the importance of expediting a new round of talks between NIC and Hanwha Company to overcome the obstacles facing the completion of the project.

A delegation from the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee, headed by the eldest Representative Vian Abdel Aziz Abdel Rahman, the Representative, Mr. Hussein Al-Saabari, the Representative, Mr. Amanj Mahmoud, and the Representative, Mr. Muhammad Al-Ziyadi, visited Yesterday, Wednesday, Bismayah Residential City, where they were received by the Director General of the Relations and Media Department in the National Investment Commission, Mr. Haider Hamadeh, and a number of officials in charge of the project.

Problems and challenges were discussed to be resolved and hit the 100 thousand units and overcome difficulties that stands against serving the inhabitants

Representatives  expressed their keenness in supporting  the completion of the project and continue  providing  services to its residents by addressing  departments and institutions to supply the basic requirements for citizens, in addition to cooperating with the National Investment Commission to proceed with the completion of the project.

Mr. Hamadeh affirmed that the National Investment Commission highly appreciates the visit of the members of the House of Representatives and their great support for the continuation of the project and facilitating procedures to provide everything that serves citizens in Bismayah, and that the Commission is keen to resolve all problems with the South Korean Hanwha Company to resume work.

During the meeting, they discussed the overall housing conditions of the city of Bismayah, providing services to its people, and overcoming the difficulties facing work and population expansion in the city.

Mr. Salar Muhammad Ameen stressed NIC  interest in completing the Bismayah residential city, providing the best services to its residents, and addressing all problems and accumulations that occurred in the past, indicating that NIC will do its best  to complete the project, address obstacles and restore work with it.

Mr. Salar Muhammad Ameen, Chairman of the National Investment Commission, said that one of the most prominent directions of the Commission at the current and near stage is to open up to available local and foreign investments in various sectors, identify the most prominent causes of delaying projects and entities that prevent this.

He also mentioned that he meets with tens of inverters, businessmen and companies on daily bases and listens to issues they face while trying to overcome difficulties with concerned offices.

He stressed that improving investment reality in Iraq is one of the most prominent directions of the government and the NIC. NIC administration  is saving no effort or transparency working hard enough to affect positively on the economic arena and contributes to moving the wheel of the economy.

The Chairwoman of the National Investment Commission, Suha Daoud Najjar, confirmed that the Karbala International Airport project reflects the bright image of local investors and Iraqi competency capable of implementing big investment projects, noting that this project, sponsored by Husain Holy Shrine administration, will contribute directly to facilitating the entry of foreign visitors Karbala, especially in overcrowded events with millions of visitors like the fortieth visit.

All this was discussed during attending a meeting at the site of the Karbala International Airport project, in the presence of the legal guardian of the Husain Holy Shrine administration, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, the Governor of Karbala, Mr. Nassif Jassem Al-Khattabi, and a number of local officials, in addition to senior staff of NIC. Chairwoman of NIC indicated in her speech that this project will contribute in promoting

sustainable development, provide thousands of job opportunities and economic resources for national income. She also praised the efforts made to achieve the coal, promising that NIC will not save any efforts to overcome any challenges that may face the project.

It is worth mentioning that the Karbala International Airport project is sponsored by Imam Husain Holy Shrine administration and designed by the French (ADP) company, which has a long history in the field of airport designs. Manhal Al-Haboubi Engineering Consulting Office shall supervise the four –phases project. The first phase is 3 million passengers annually, the second is 6 million passengers, the third is 18 million passengers, and the last phase shall be 20 million passengers, hoping to start services of the first phase by the end of next year.

Chairwoman of the National Investment Commission, Suha Daoud Najjar, met the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Hassan Nadhim.

During the meeting, aspects of joint cooperation between the NIC and the ministry were discussed to activate tourism in Iraq by encouraging the establishment of investment facilities and projects in the tourism sector.

Najjar stressed the importance of establishing such projects, as one of the sources of national income with  a significant positive impact on all other economic sectors, as well as an important factor in providing many job opportunities in all fields

She also explained that the tourism sector is one of the important economic sectors in Iraq regarding its archaeological and historical sites, holy shrines and other religious sites which are considered as the main attraction factor in tourism.
