NIC Chairwoman, Suha Dawood Najar: We support all international efforts and agreements for protecting environment

NIC in coordination with the Ministry of Environment/ the National Center for OZON a workshop regarding (OZON depleting materials alternatives and their effect on global warming) on Sunday.19.12.21 at the NIC premises.

NIC Chairwoman, Suha Dawood Najar, opened the workshop works welcoming the attendees from concerned sides in provincial Investment Commissions, Ministry of Environment and University of Technology. Najar stressed during the session the importance of

informing decision makers about conditions to be taken into consideration, in running devices and industries that emit the gases which cause depleting this layer found to protect environment, in a way that comply with the international agreements seeking environment protection.

The workshop included submitting detailed lectures by Dr. Shadha Kadhum Khalaf- head of the National Center for OZON,  Dr. Ahmed Abed Muhammed- consultant in the University of Technology and the Chief Engineer – Muamer Rashad Jabar from the National Center for OZON. The workshop works presented an introductional brief of the OZON layer and highlighting the most prominent risks and side effects resulting from losing control on certain gases emissions.

The workshop also witnessed a number of questions and discussions that were answered by the concerned team.

The workshop was attended by the DG of the Administration & finance department and the DG of the One Stop Shop in NIC.

NIC Chairwoman: We are continuing in withdrawing investment licenses of dilatory projects

The decision of withdrawing investment licenses contributed in differentiating the serious investor from the dilatory one

 

NIC Chairwoman, Suha Dawood Najar, assured that NIC is continuing its procedures of withdrawing investment licenses of dilatory projects whose achievement rates varies between 0-35% in accordance with the directives of the Prime Minister during his visit to the NIC premises last April.

Najar clarified that NIC keeps studying these projects according to specialized committees to stand on each project details and reasons behind its delay, and this process goes in coordination between NIC and Provincial Investment Commissions.

NIC Chairwoman assured that this decision has widely contributed to differentiating serious investor from the dilatory one who misused the essential investment tools represented by tax exemptions, fees cuts, entry visas granting and other facilitations  in a way that participated in disrupting investment process in Iraq.

Worth mentioning that Nineveh Province comes at the top of the list by withdrawing 22 investment licenses in various economic fields while 8 licenses were withdrawn in Najaf province, whereas Basra province is studying withdrawing 16 licenses and other provinces are still studying the cases.

NIC Chairwoman, Suha Dawood Najar, stressed NIC insistence on reviving the Marshes area to be ready for receiving tourists through granting investment opportunities for reliable companies ready to achieve the meant goal.

This came during her excellency presiding a meeting with  DG of the Marshes and wet lands reviving Center that is related to the Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Hussein Ali Hussein and the accompanying deputation.

The assemblers discussed the possibility of constructing projects in the Marshes area aiming at reviving tourism in this area whereas NIC Chairwoman required the deputation to provide NIC with the measures and restrictions requested to construct investment projects in the Marshes area that comply with the UNSCO regulations.

Najjar: The National Investment Commission has embarked the establishment of this promising project, based on plans to solve the housing issue.

Najjar: Our goal is to create a modern city that keeps pace with development in the region and the world and a model for other cities in Iraq and the region.

During the meeting, it was decided to launch investment opportunities for the Rafael project during the next few days, after the completion of the first and second phases of the engineering survey of the city’s lands.

Chairwoman of the National Investment Commission, Mrs. Suha Daoud Najjar, chaired the meeting of the Special Committee for the Rafael City Project.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of launching investment opportunities in the city of Rafael, and measures taken to ensure implementation according to international standards.

Najjar confirmed that the National Investment Commission has embarked on the establishment of this promising project, based on its plans to provide solutions to the housing problem, aiming at establishing a modern city that keeps pace with the development in the region and the world, and makes it a model for cities in Iraq and the region.

NIC Chairwoman indicated that the committees from NIC and other ministries, authorities and departments are working day and night in order to overcome obstacles to start executive work and offer transparent investment opportunities.

Chairwoman of the National Investment Commission, Mrs. Suha Daoud Najjar, participated in the World Manufacturing forum, held in the Italian city of Cernobbio / Como, at an official invitation of the World Manufacturing Foundation and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

She confirmed in her speech that Iraq, despite all difficulties, is proceeding with steady and sound steps towards recovery and approaching the future with an open mind targeting successful experiences and partnerships that boosts development in all sectors specially the manufacturing one.

Najjar indicated that Iraq owns non-oil economic resources which can be invested in various industries. Also, the Chairwoman of National Investment Commission invited all official bodies, companies and investors specialized in the industrial sector to consider expanding cooperation with Iraq.

Najjar called on specialized companies to visit Iraq, stressing the readiness of the commission, the Iraqi state institutions and concerned ministries to provide all facilities required for the job, and to build partnerships with the Iraqi public and private sector for the reconstruction of its various sectors, as well as its interest in cooperation to gain access to modern and advanced knowledge and mechanisms in managing and supporting projects, developing skills, empowering workers, creating the appropriate environment for job opportunities, developing national production and improving services quality.

At the end of the forum, Iraq was invited to join the countries participating in the forum; In order to expand cooperation with these countries in the industrial and investment field. Her Excellency Mrs. Safia Al-Suhail, Ambassador of Iraq to Italy, participated in the forum’s works.

It is worth mentioning that the United Nations Industrial Development Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations, headquartered in Vienna – Austria. The main objective of the organization is to promote and accelerate industrial development in the developing countries and countries with economies in transition, and to enhance international industrial cooperation.

The Chairwoman of the National Investment Commission, Suha Daoud Najjar, received Thursday, September 23, 2021, the Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing, Mr. Yahya Al-Kasabi and his accompanying delegation.

A meeting was held between the two parties to discuss how to enhance joint economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and for Jordanian companies to get involved the current investment process in Iraq.

During the meeting, which was brought together by the visiting delegation, Chairwoman of the commission stressed the commission’s keenness to increase cooperation with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the field of investment by granting Jordanian investment companies all the facilities and guarantees mentioned in the Investment Law No. 13 of 2006 and its amendments, indicating that there are many economic sectors in Iraq full of investment opportunities that can be exploited by the Jordan to achieve mutual interests, especially when the Jordanian party is in contact and familiar with the Iraqi economic statues and has great investment experiences in various investment sectors in Iraq, the most important of which is the renewable energy sector.

Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al-Kasabi expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality with which the visiting delegation was received since their arrival to Baghdad, describing this behavior as expected from this ancient country, stressing that Iraq is a fertile land for investment and that Jordanian companies have a serious desire in entering the promising Iraqi market, especially in the field of housing, where the Kingdom of Jordan is good at in terms of planning and implementation.
