Iraq participates in the fifth French-Arab Economic Summit in Paris
The National Investment Authority (NIA ), represented by its Chairman Dr. Haider Mohammed Makkiya, participated in the 5th Arab-French Economic Summit. held by the Arab-French Chamber of Commerce in the French capital Paris on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
The summit is a strategic platform to promote economic and investment cooperation. It aims to exchange ideas and explore investment opportunities between Arab and French companies. while inviting French companies to invest in the Iraqi market.
During the session dedicated to the Middle East region. Dr. Haider Makkiya reviewed the investment map of Iraq, highlighting promising opportunities in the fields of renewable energies, infrastructure, agriculture, smart cities, digital and technological economy, as well as associated gas investments. He also referred to Iraq’s rich natural resources and its strategic location as a link between regional and international markets.
The session was attended by a high-level delegation that included His Excellency the Iraqi Ambassador to France, Dr. Wadih Butti, and Dr. Raed Nizar, Economic Advisor to the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce. In addition to representatives of the International Chamber of Commerce in Iraq, headed by Engineer Mohsen Al-Hamid, the advisor of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Ahmed Al-Yasiri, the head of the economic section and organizations, Counselor Nahrawan Mohsen, the Iraqi Commercial Attaché, Mr. Azad Hussein, and a number of Iraqi businessmen.
This distinguished Iraqi presence comes as part of efforts to strengthen economic relations with France and invite French companies to enter the Iraqi market and take advantage of the various investment opportunities.
