Iraq participates in the Sarajevo Business and Investment Forum in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Dr. Haidar Muhammad Makiya, participated in the opening activities of the Sarajevo Business and Investment Forum, in its twelfth session, in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representing the Republic of Iraq, for the period 17-18 May.

During the presence of more than (1000) participating businessmen from (40) Arab and foreign countries and official figures representing countries and governments in the region and the world, The head of the National Commission for Investment, Dr. Haider Muhammad Makiya, confirmed that Iraq is part of the paths of international partnership in the economy and investment sector. Work is underway towards consolidating the base of commercial relations with the international community and the regional neighborhood of Iraq.

He added that the Sarajevo Business Forum is an important investment space in the southeastern geography of the continent of Europe and an important opportunity to present strategic and vital projects in the energy, oil, housing, trade, industry and health sectors mutually between the Bosnian investment sector and the investment sector in the countries of the world, including the countries of the region. Indicating that the National Commission has prepared an integrated program on the investment opportunities available in Iraq, And an introduction to the amended Iraqi Investment Law No. (13) of 2006, And a precise strategy to attract European capital and investors to Iraq and initiate investment projects and activities in the interest of the country.

Makiya continued, on the sidelines of the activities of the forum, which witnessed a review of the works and projects established in many countries and the financial budgets allocated to them. It is necessary to build bridges of economic communication between countries and governments that pay attention to the investment sector in order to develop the target environment levels in the countries participating in the Sarajevo Forum, Explaining the importance of initiating actual steps towards the axes of the health sector, governance, and developing the reality of infrastructure.

While the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Nermin Nikšić, stressed in his speech at the forum the importance of mutual commercial communication with the countries of the world and the Arab and Islamic region. Involving research centers to study the nature of mutual development factors and develop them to ensure the requirements of the societies of states and governments.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Elmedin Konakovich, indicated that the economy is an important axis in any country that seeks progress at all levels. And that the Republic of Bosnia is keen to expand its economic dealings with most countries of the world

In implementation of the Prime Minister’s directives to accelerate the pace of work on projects: The head of the National Commission for Investment inspects investment projects around Baghdad International Airport and looks at work plans and completion rates

 

The Chairman of the National Commission for Investment, Dr. Haider Muhammad Makiya, conducted an inspection tour of the investment projects in areas around Baghdad International Airport to see the progress of the work and the achievement rates achieved within the specified time periods.

This visit comes in implementation of the directives of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Eng. Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani, regarding the need to accelerate the pace of work in all projects. And dividing work meals into three shifts to ensure speedy delivery.

And in his visit to the investment projects, in the presence of the Managing Director of Daico International Holding Company and the representative of the Emirati Damac Company in Iraq, Mr. Majid Al-Ghazali, and a number of officials of the Authority, His Excellency the Chairman of the National Commission, Dr. Haider Muhammad Makiya, affirmed his keenness to follow up the stages of work and record completion rates within the specified time ceilings, which were proven by feasibility studies. Indicating that these projects represent a qualitative turning point in terms of design and construction.

During his tour of a number of completed models of housing units for the projects of the Daico International Holding Company, Makiya continued that the government pays great attention to partnership between the public and private sectors and its implications for national economic development. Referring to the National Authority’s reliance on the policy of openness to regional and international investment companies and initiating bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding with major countries in the sectors of housing, energy, industry, trade and agriculture, He explained that the National Authority will work to remove obstacles in order for the mechanisms to enter the work sites.

For his part, Mr. Majed Al-Ghazali, Managing Director of Daico, expressed his happiness with this visit and the knowledge of the nature of work levels that investment projects have been lacking for years. Expressing his thanks for the interest of the President of the National Commission and his careful follow-up to the details of the field work. Pointing out that Daico’s projects around the airport are in an upward trajectory.

أجرت لجنة مختصة من الهيئة الوطنية للإستثمار جولة تفقدية للإطلاع على مراحل العمل في المشاريع الإستثمارية بمحافظتي كركوك ونينوى.

وبينت اللجنة خلال جولتها الميدانية أن مهمتها جاءت بناءً على توجيهات من معالي رئيس الهيئة الوطنية للإستثمار الدكتور حيدر محمد مكية بهدف الكشف الميداني على مراحل العمل ومستويات الإنجاز في المشاريع وتأشير نقاط الخلل، ووضع الخطط والمقترحات بشأن معالجتها.

وكانت قد شكلت اللجنة من أقسام التدقيق والمراجعة والمتابعة والقانونية والتنسيق بين المحافظات، ومثل هذه اللجان سيكون عملها بشكل دوري للمشاريع الاستثمارية ولعموم محافظات العراق.

The National Investment Commission organized a workshop on the conceptual approach to the quality management system, with the participation of the Commission’s employees.

The Vice President of the Commission, Eng. Salar Muhammad Amin, said during his attendance at the workshop that the National Commission for Investment is keen to implement international standards of quality management because of its positive role on the investment process in Iraq.

The workshop, which was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, included a lecture given by Ms. Yusra Hamid, Director of Quality Management and Institutional Development Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. During which I showed the concept, foundations and elements of applying total quality management and quality management system (ISO9001) and the differences between total quality management and quality management system.

The workshop curriculum explained the modern methods of preparing the comprehensive quality manual and the specifications required to obtain it. And how to document and audit its systems through a special methodology in management.

The workshop was attended by the Assistant Director General of the Economic and Technical Department, Ammar Abdul-Jabbar, and the Director of the Department of Total Quality Management and Institutional Development, Ms. Huda Muhammad Jassim at the National Investment Authority.

NIC Chairman launches the distribution of legal ownership documentation papers to Bismayah housing units’ buyers

NIC Chairman, Dr. Haider Muhammed Makiya, with the attendance of H.E. Minister of Justice, Mr. Khalid Shwani, launches the process of distributing the legal ownership documentation papers of Bismayah housing units to buyers and assures the government keenness to complete the whole project and provide citizens with the adequate lodgings.

NIC Chairman said during a press conference that this process has come after a series of measures embarked by NIC in coordination with the Ministry of Justice and its directorates in the real estate registration dept., referring that this step represents the start to deliver all ownership papers to Bismayah inhabitants.

Makiya added that the government gives a big importance to Bismayah project and is serious to provide the necessary requirements to complete the whole for its real participation in solving part of the housing crisis. Explaining that NIC is pursuing meetings with Hanwah south Korean company to negotiate provisions pertaining to the annexed contract .

H.E. Minister of justice, Mr. Khalid Shwani, the nature of efforts that were jointly made by his ministry and NIC to complete the documentation work in its legal form hoping to finalize all papers in the soonest time.

NIC participated in the discussions held between the Saudi delegation and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to construct industrial zones in a number of provinces.

The meeting was headed by the deputy minister of Industry and minerals for the planning affairs, Mr. Ahmed Al- Kareem, who assure the importance of going forward with investing in strategic, transformative, pharmaceutical, iron and steel, fertilizers and sulfur industries making use of the mutual memorandums of understanding between Iraq and the region countries including the Kingdon of the Saudi Arabia.

The meeting discussed the pivotal role of NIC by urging to complete investment maps and economic feasibility studies for projects submitted to the specialized companies  giving priority to the projects that meet the national requirements.

The meeting also presented an overview for most of the projects put by the ministry as important investment opportunities that cover part of its strategy aiming at localizing industries in Iraq especially the pharmaceutical one in addition to over viewing the industrial zones projects in Baghdad, Nineveh, Wasit, Missan and Anbar.
